Legacy
Cory Suddarth began his career as an Optical Technician in the U.S. Navy in 1975. Becoming an Optical Tech was his first choice as a specialization when joining the Navy, showing that this was a passion from the beginning. Following the foot steps of his father, Jack Suddarth, who was an Opthalmic Technician in Okinawa during his service with the U.S. Army during W.W.II, Cory sought out to learn the inner workings of optics.
Over the last Forty years he has refined this craft, offering the finest work in repairing and refurbishing binoculars that date as far back as the late 1800's. Today, his son, Eric is currently working alongside Cory, continuing the family legacy of optical repair.
"We clean, repair and refurbish binoculars made by Nikon, Canon, Bausch and Lomb, Fujinon,Carl Zeiss Jena, Hensoldt, Wetzlar, Swarovski, Busch, Zeiss and more from the U.S.A., Germany and Japan."
Services
Suddarth Optical Repair offers a wide range of services for getting your binoculars back in working order. We use a Mark V U.S. Navy Collimator for aligning all binoculars, which allows for a perfect image regardless of your I.P.D. This proper alignment will offer greater clarity and negate eye strain or any ocular discomfort.
Astronomers, collectors, birders, and newcomers are all welcome here as we'll service nearly any make or model and offer a wide range of custom work as well. Cory is a long-time machinist, which he uses to fabricate replacement and custom parts needed to bring your binocular to completion. SOR is here to answer any questions you may have about your optics and to make any repairs needed to bring your optics back to life.
We clean, repair and refurbish binoculars made by Nikon, Canon, Bausch and Lomb, Fujinon, Carl Zeiss Jena, Hensoldt, Wetzlar, Swarovski, Busch, Zeiss and more from the U.S.A., Germany and Japan. Furthermore, we can re-cement optical elements in any glass. When the adhesive used to join the lenses in your binocular begins to deteriorate due to time, the image will become flawed. We will separate the glass, clean off any residue, and reattach the elements using a UV reactive adhesive.
S.O.R. services Carl Zeiss, Carl Zeiss Jena and Swarovski Habicht. The optical technician in Austria no longer services Habicht binoculars prior to 1984.
